Commercial

The commercial flooring market is generally separated into market segments, and is most commonly divided into the following categories:

  • Education
  • Office
  • Hospitality
  • Public Spaces
  • Health and Aged Care
  • Sport and Recreation
  • Retail

Each market segment has different characteristics, needs, product preferences, and technical requirements. For example, the health care market segment uses significant amounts of resilient flooring while the hospitality market often prefers woven carpets. In the commercial market environment, typically product/material selection, design and technical evaluation are done by architects and interior designers. When selecting commercial floor coverings due consideration needs to be given to the requirements specific to that installation, for example, the area of application (room vs corridor – intensity of traffic), colour and pattern, pile height and density, slip resistance, method of installation.
